Adding e-commerce to your blog is easy with paypal. If you have a paypal standard business account, you can easily generate sophisticated “add to cart” or “buy now” or even “donate” and “subscribe” buttons to your blog posts. This is an inexpensive way to add shopping cart options to your blog. This video shows how easy it is to log into your paypal account and generate the code to add a shopping cart button to your blog posts. Paypal takes a percentage of your sales, similar and comparable to other merchant services, but it charges no monthly fees. I recommend paypal to my clients, and, when shopping online, I prefer to check-out with paypal whenever the option is given me. In the video below, I show how easy it is to create e-commerce buttons for your blog.

Hi, Heather. I wanted to thank you for this tutorial. It was super helpful since I needed to figure out how to create a paypal button. I do have a follow-up question, though. I’d like to offer my book as a pdf for sale on my blog. Do you know if it’s possible to do this on blogger? And if so, do you know how to set it up in the sidebar? I’ve found lots of posts on how to make pdfs available within a blogger post, but nothing about how to set them up for sale in the sidebar.
Thanks so much for taking the time!
Hi Becca,
If you want people to purchase the PDF and then be able to download it immediately from their purchase confirmation, then you might look in to a service that specializes in digital products, like http://www.e-junkie.com/. Once you set up the product, they might supply you with button code, or with a link to download the product. Check out this post on how to easily format side widget content using your post editor. http://goffgrafix.com/blog/index.php/2011/04/video-tutorial-how-to-easily-add-custom-content-to-a-text-widget/
If you are willing to just email them the file once they’ve purchased it, rather than have the product automated, you could use the paypal button code. Hope this helps.
