As I was walking the dog this morning, I looked up and the sun broke through the herring bone clouds. The wind blowing across the snow covered field had lost its bitter edge and hinted at a thaw. I thought how beautiful it was, and then how grateful I was for my dog. If I didn’t have the chore of walking the dog, I would not have experienced the hint of spring in the air this morning. If I hadn’t bundled up to take the dog out for his last walk in the night, I would not have noticed how brilliant the stars were.
What seems like an onerous chore is in fact a door that opens to some enriching moments.
My work can be like that too. I have had projects given to me that at first glance seem tedious, but once completed I realize that they have been a vehicle for an incredible journey. They end up teaching me new things, introducing me to new people, challenging me to learn. Each website that I design and/or program has brought me gifts. I am very grateful for the work that I do.
Have you had experiences where something that you dragged your heals at, or dreaded, ended up being a blessing?

Thank you Heather. You have brought my morning into focus. It is nice to be reminded that the simplest chores can bring the greatest gifts.
