Shane - thank you for your feedback! what I find most addictive about twitter are the great resources that people link to in their twits.

Oh it sure can be a time sink as well as a serious distraction. I have to turn off my Twitter client when I am doing any serious work or else the temptation to read the Tweets as they come in is too big.

As far as hurting your business, I guess it will depend on what you say and how much time you spend on it. I follow some people that are incredibly candid in what they say and seem not to hold back. At the moment I don't think any clients are following me (at least none that I know of) but even so I will filter what I say and keep it to the point.

One thing that is great about Twitter is the ability to ask a question and almost instantly receive a relevant answer. Like google but with people rather than bots returning the response. I am a new Twitter (maybe just over a month or so) and I have learned sooo much from my peers.

And there are some industry celebrities Twitters who provide a glimpse of their personality, like Eric Meyer's dark side. It gives them a personality that was otherwise unnoticed. Interesting that the big names rarely tweet about the industry and tend to keep it more personal.

Michael, thank you for your feedback! It is a "time sink". I'm not sure how active twitter users get anything else accomplished. I guess they must be very good either at multi tasking, or time management.

Great post. Twitter is time consuming, but a lot of people in Tech are locked in. I can't bring myself to actively participate right now, another time sink I can't afford. I can see in some cases it could work for you, tho.
